It's the only time the mayoral candidates are scheduled to appear live on stage together ahead of the election.
6 News is proud to announce that a town hall on housing for the 2024 Melbourne City Council election will be co-chaired by our very own Leo Puglisi.
Done in partnership with YIMBY Melbourne and Housing All Australians, the town hall will take place at The Edge, Fed Square, in Melbourne's CBD. Robert Pradolin of Housing All Australians will also be co-chairing alongside Puglisi.
The full town hall will be broadcast on 6 News' YouTube Channel, with discussions ongoing as to whether a live broadcast could also occur.
As it stands, this will be the only time the mayoral candidates are scheduled to appear live on stage together ahead of the election. A large number of candidates, including endorsed candidates from Labor, the Liberals and the Greens, will be contesting the election. Candidates who will be appearing at the town hall will be confirmed in due course.
From YIMBY Melbourne:
"Over the past two decades, the City of Melbourne has been the main driver of housing growth in our city's established suburbs. Whoever wins the Lord Mayoral race in October will be fundamental in shaping the way Melbourne continues to grow as a city.
Join the City of Melbourne’s Lord Mayoral candidates at the city's Housing Town Hall, to learn about their vision for leading the fight to tackle Melbourne’s housing crisis.
The Town Hall will be chaired by an intergenerational pairing: Robert Pradolin of Housing All Australians, and Leo Puglisi of 6 News.
The event is free to attend, and will be rebroadcast after the fact.
This event is brought to you by YIMBY Melbourne, Housing All Australians, and 6 News, and is supported by Federation Square.
Tickets are free, with donations encouraged to cover costs. Any revenue in excess of costs for this event will be donated to City of Melbourne focused homeless service provider TBA.
This event would not be possible without the generous support of Fed Square."
