Gavin Gamble has been returned to Golden Plains Shire Council.

The Greens have gained a seat on Golden Plains Shire Council in Victoria following a countback held by the VEC this moning.

Independent councillor Lachlan Glen announced his resignation from council late last year, citing personal reasons, shortly after he was elected with the highest primary vote at the October local government elections.

A countback today has seen Gavin Gamble of the Greens gain the seat, returning him to council after his defeat last year, and giving the Greens representation in Golden Plains once again. All other councillors are independents.

It takes the Greens to 29 seats statewide after they won 28 in October. The party's best-ever result was in 2020, when they won 36 seats.

The next local government elections in Victoria will be held in 2028.
